Tallahassee–The Republican Party of Florida today released the following web video detailing Alex Sink’s politically motivated call for an investigation into her former employer Bank of America and her mentor Ken Lewis.

“Alex Sink can run, but she can’t hide from her relationship with her mentor, embattled Bank of America CEO Ken Lewis,” said RPOF spokeswoman Katie Betta.

“Now that she’s running for Governor, Alex Sink suddenly has a problem with Lewis’ leadership and Bank of America’s appalling banking practices under him,” continued Betta. “I’m sure the thousands of people she laid off and the tens of thousands of sub-prime borrowers Bank of America swindled wish Alex Sink had her current view of Lewis when she was serving as President of Bank of America in Florida. Instead, she and Lewis made millions at their expense.”

Two of a Kind
“N.Y. Attorney General Andrew Cuomo’s indictment of Bank of America and its former CEO, Ken Lewis, could have political repercussions in Florida. Democratic gubernatorial candidate Alex Sink was the Florida president of Bank of America, and Lewis was her mentor.” (Orlando Sentinel, 02/05/10)

“Of Sink, [Ken Lewis] he said: ‘She’s bright. She’s a good communicator. She’s a winner. She’s driven to do all she can to succeed.’” (Orlando Sentinel, 02/05/10)

“Sink, who has relied on Lewis for years as a mentor…” (St. Petersburg Times, 6/16/00)

“…Adelaide ‘Alex’ Sink, a protégé of Lewis and former president of the bank’s Florida operation, compared Lewis to another cerebral type who recently tried to succeed a charismatic-though-polarizing leader. ‘It’s kind of like Al Gore’ running to succeed Bill Clinton, she said. ‘He has to be his own man.” St. Petersburg Times, 1/25/01)

“The bank's No. 2 executive, Ken Lewis, who has been Sink's mentor, says there are ‘no constraints on her moving to a higher position,’ but other aspirations and her family life make it unlikely she'll grab for a higher rung at Bank of America.” (Business North Carolina [Reprint of a Florida Trend article], 09/01/99)
