WASHINGTON – Today, Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Michael Steele issued the following statement and released a web video to honor the month long observance of Black History Month. The web video, entitled “Pioneers Who Have Paved The Way For Othersâ€, can be viewed here.

“Each year our country dedicates the month of February to celebrate the many accomplishments of African Americans and recognizing their extensive contributions to a diverse American society. Black History Month is a time to reflect on the advancements African Americans have made in this country and show respect to heroes of the past while acknowledging the leaders of today who will guide our country to even greater things. The Republican National Committee honors the countless successes and sacrifices that African Americans have made and continue to make to help the United States remain the greatest country in the world.â€
