Tallahassee–Republican Party of Florida Chairman Jim Greer today commented on an opinion-editorial written by Democrat House Leaders, Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-MD).
“I was appalled to read that two of the leaders of our United States Congress would dare to call citizens expressing their views on one of the most serious pieces of legislation pending in Washington, ‘un-American.’ I can think of a few things that are ‘un-American,’ and attempting to peacefully voice your opinion at a town hall meeting designed for the very purpose of providing local feedback for members of Congress before they return to Washington to vote on this legislation isn’t one of the them.”
Across the nation citizens are asking constructive questions about the Democrat’s health care legislation, but they aren’t getting any answers from Doctors Pelosi, Hoyer and Obama.
Would the Democrat’s health care plan:
• Restrict the enrollment of people with special needs (pg. 354)?
• Decide what level of “end-of-life” treatment you receive, according to a pre-determined, government-mandated schedule (pg. 430)?
• Build government databases which include your private, personal medical history (pg. 503)?
• Work to systematically “increase birth intervals between pregnancies,” opening the very real probability of forced, tax-payer funded abortions (pg. 768)?
• Would the federal government serve as the final, ultimate authority on which health care conditions will be treated, dramatically increasing the likelihood of rationing (pg. 800)?
“Republicans, Democrats and Independents expressing their opinions on this important issue to their elected officials is very American. It is a freedom our founding fathers envisioned from the birth of our nation and a right our men and women and uniform have died to protect. Citizens from all walks of life are exposing this shameless power grab for what it is – another attempt by the Liberals to take away your freedoms. Doctors Pelosi, Hoyer and Obama are afraid of answering the tough questions, so they’ve instead decided to criticize those asking the questions.
“Far be it for the average American citizen to dare to question a $1 trillion increase in entitlement spending, or to ask a member of the United States Congress to explain a piece of legislation that would cause 119 million people to lose their private health insurance and socialize 17 percent of the economy, while still leaving 36 million Americans uninsured. The only thing un-American here is the idea that 300 million Americans should place their personal health care decision in the hands of a Democrat-controlled Congress!”
